Ammonite - Fossilised animal - Decorative Collection of 3...

Beautiful decorative composition featuring three genuine polished ammonite fossils (Cleoniceras and Perisphinctes), individually mounted on an elegant black metal display stand. The group showcases a diverse selection of ammonites, including cut and polished specimens revealing intricate internal chambers and suture patterns, as well as a whole shell displaying detailed ribbed exterior textures. Each specimen highlights its own distinct hues and mineralisation, ranging from rich golden-amber and warm honey tones (Cleoniceras) to pale cream hues with prominent radial ribs (Perisphinctes). Ammonites were marine cephalopod molluscs that inhabited the world's oceans for hundreds of millions of years before becoming extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, approximately 66 million years ago. Their distinctive coiled shells featured internal chambers used to regulate buoyancy, creating the fascinating geometric patterns preserved in the stone today. The three specimens vary in size and texture, artfully arranged at graduated heights to create a balanced and visually striking arrangement. The minimalist black metal stand enhances the natural forms and colours of the fossils without distracting from them. An attractive piece combining natural history, palaeontology and interior design, ideal for a collector's cabinet, study, living room or as an unusual decorative object.
