Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique Borchalu Kazak Rug, South Caucasus, late 19th century Size: 5 ft 8 in x 4 ft 5 in (1.72 m x 1.34 m) Provenance: New York private collector A strongly drawn Borchalu Kazak displaying the bold geometry, saturated contrasts, and substantial wool associated with South Caucasian village weaving. Borchalu rugs are recognized for forceful central medallions surrounded by angular plants, animals,s and protective devices. Their designs combine visual discipline with the spontaneity of an individual weaver, giving each rug a distinct personality. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #468 is in very good condition. The pile is full and even, with no visible signs of wear. Both ends are complete and hand-secured, and the sides are secured. There is no dryness in the foundation. The rug is clean and floor-ready.
