Antique Lankaron Gallery Rug, Southeast Caucasus, late 19th century

Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique Lankaron Gallery Rug, Southeast Caucasus, late 19th century Size: 9 ft 8 in x 3 ft 8 in (2.94 m x 1.11 m) Provenance: New York private collector An elegant Lankaron rug distinguished by its elongated proportions and the disciplined decorative vocabulary of the Southeast Caucasus. Lankaron weavings often feature an open or minimally ornamented field framed by complex borders, creating a particularly effective tension between space and pattern. Their long, narrow formats make them well-suited to traditional domestic architecture and remain highly practical today. This example is an appealing choice for a hall, gallery, library or the side of a dining table.
