Antoine-Louis Barye (1796–1875) Crocodile Bronze sculpture with a brown-green patina, bearing the stamped signature “BARYE” and the foundry mark “F. BARBEDIENNE” on the underside. Posthumous casting L. 195 mm A similar model is listed and reproduced under no. A 210, p. 350, in *Barye: Catalogue Raisonné of Sculptures*, by M. Poletti and A. Richarme, Gallimard, Verona, 2000. Provenance: estate of Amélie Antoinette Houdart, second wife of Antoine-Louis Barye, then passed down through her descendants. Appraiser: Mr. Jean-François BOURRIAUD—Appraiser for the C.N.E.S.
