Native American, Southwestern United States, Apache. A basketry water jar, or "tus," twined from willow and sumac and covered in pine pitch that renders the vessel watertight. The swelling body rises to a constricted neck and flaring rim bound in coiled fiber, with small looped handles at the shoulder for a carrying cord. Item # 203453
