Artist Resale Rights Apply Austin Moseley (British, 1930-2013), Putting the world to rights - two figures talking on a park bench, Oil on board, Signed with initials and dated '85' for 1985 lower right; artist's label verso, 33.5cm x 40cm, Framed (42.5cm x 49cm overall) (at fault) PROVENANCE: The vendor’s father, a Wolverhampton property developer, established Thornley Gallery in Thornley Street, opposite the then Wolverhampton Art Polytechnic, after encouragement from his friend Ron Eason, a local artist and art teacher. Eason introduced him to Austin Moseley, and the gallery specialised in works by local artists. This painting was acquired by the vendor from a solo exhibition of Moseley’s work held at Thornley Gallery in the late 1980s and has remained in her collection since. Moseley lived in nearby Sedgley and drew much of his inspiration from the people and industrial landscape of the Black Country. The artist’s original label bearing his Sedgley home address remains verso.
