Description An extraordinary and fully complete Victorian electroplated egg boiler and table food warmer, made by the renowned silversmith Thomas Bradbury & Sons in Sheffield, England. From the maker's marks on the underside with the unmistakable 'TB&SS' stamp and the Gothic year letter 'M' the manufacture can be dated precisely to the year 1888. Design & Mechanics: The piece captivates with its classic, neoclassical design in a spherical form. The container rests on a four-legged stand, standing on elegant claw feet and adorned at the joints with detailed shell motifs. The domed lid can be rolled smoothly up and down via the lateral turning mechanism. Completeness & Condition: This lot is particularly valuable for collectors, as it is 100% complete – an absolute rarity among tableware devices of this age. The set includes: • The main stand with the rotating spherical container • The original removable inner frame for up to 6 eggs • The original spirit burner at the bottom The mechanism works perfectly. The inner silvering is remarkably bright and superbly preserved, with hardly any signs of use. The exterior shows a beautiful, authentic patina with natural aging. This can be polished to a high gloss on request or left as-is for historical character. No deep scratches or major dents. Details & marks: • Manufacturer: Thomas Bradbury & Sons (Sheffield) • Year of manufacture: 1888 • Punches: 'TB&SS', 'EP' (Electroplated / Galvanically silvered), year letter 'M' as well as old, inscribed inventory numbers from former jewelers. A splendid testament to British table culture of the late 19th century and a valuable addition to any collection of historical silver antiques.
