THE KING HUSSEIN OF JORDAN CONNECTION This is far more than a rare vintage Breitling, it carries a piece of royal history. King Hussein of Jordan (1935-1999), one of the 20th century's longest-reigning monarchs and a passionate, licensed pilot, was a devoted Breitling enthusiast. He commissioned special Breitlings bearing the golden Royal Crown of Jordan and his name in Arabic script, "Al-Hussein bin Talal", and presented them personally to trusted pilots, officers and allies. In the Arab world, gifting a watch is among the highest marks of honour, and receiving one from the King's own hand was a rare distinction. Because these royal pieces were made in tiny numbers for a chosen few, they rank among the most sought-after Breitlings for collectors today. This watch wears that heritage right on its dial, crowned with the royal emblem beneath 12 o'clock, complete with the King's name. THE WATCH Breitling "Tabarly" reference 80770N. A rare and distinctive vintage Breitling from the 1980s, developed and named together with the legendary French offshore sailor Eric Tabarly (two-time winner of the single-handed transatlantic race, 1964 and 1976). The caseback is engraved: "BREITLING - 80770N - ALL SWISS MADE - STEEL - WATER RESISTANT - DESIGNED AND TESTED WITH ERIC TABARLY". A true Gerald Genta-era luxury sports watch: the integrated two-tone bracelet and screw-set bezel give it the unmistakable silhouette of the golden age of the integrated sports watch, very much in the spirit of the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The steel-and-gold links flow seamlessly from the case for real presence on the wrist. Its most distinctive feature is the second, miniature watch built into the bracelet at the 6 o'clock side, a genuine independent movement with its own dial, for tracking a second time zone at a glance (a true dual-time / GMT touch). One of the most unusual and charming details Breitling ever produced. Specifications: - Two-tone stainless steel and gold-tone, integrated AP Royal Oak-style bracelet - Black dial with the crowned royal emblem, signed "BY BREITLING", with luminous hexagonal hour markers and gold-coloured hands - Rotating black/gold dive-style bezel with 60-minute scale - Date window at 12 o'clock - Signed gold-tone Breitling crown - Second time-zone sub-watch integrated into the bracelet - Case diameter approx. 35 mm (excluding crown) - Swiss quartz movement, with a separate movement for the bracelet sub-dial Wrist size: comfortably fits larger wrists (approx. 20-22 cm). The folding clasp has a built-in extender that is fully functional and can be adjusted longer or shorter, so the bracelet can easily be sized up or down to suit your wrist. Condition: vintage, pre-owned, in good condition with visible signs of use consistent with age (light scratches to the crystal and bezel, general handling marks, and some wear to the gold-tone finish on parts of the bracelet). In full working order, both the main watch and the second-time-zone sub-dial are running and keeping time. Included: the watch only, on its two-tone bracelet. No box and no papers. Sent by registered and insured shipping. Photos: this listing includes both professional studio photos and honest iPhone photos taken in natural light, so you can see the full, true picture of the watch. A rare opportunity to own a genuine royal-associated vintage Breitling, a two-tone, integrated-bracelet luxury sports watch with dual-time function and unmistakable 1980s Genta-era style. A wearable piece of Hashemite history. Once it's gone, it's gone.
