Tantalizingly Struck Crown from "Old Kiangnan" CHINA. Kiangnan. 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), ND (1897). Nanking Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS Genuine--Repaired, AU Details. L&M-210A; K-66D; KM-Y-145.1; WS-0787. Variety with unconnected (1 stroke) "sheng", ornamented (herringbone) edge, and unbarred A's in "KIANGNAN". Despite the noted repair, this early "Dragon" Dollar presents a fairly crisp and exacting strike, all while some pleasing deepened pastel hues highlight its overall appearance. In particular, an inviting cobalt nature populates the center of the characters side, and is an aspect that should allow this charming specimen to soar. Estimate: $10,000 - $20,000. Provenance: From the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏). To view all items from the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏), click here. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
