CHINA. Warring States Period. State of Chu. "Chen Yuan" Gold Cube

CHINA. Warring States Period. State of Chu. "Chen Yuan" Gold Cube Money, ND (ca. 475-221 B.C.). EXTREMELY FINE. Hartill-5.5. Weight: 21.81 gms. Obverse: "Chen Yuan" stamped on an irregular cut fragment of a larger ingot; Reverse: Plain. An interesting series wherein the example was cut from a large bar, allowing for smaller denominations to be made. Wholly pleasing, presenting bright surfaces and a lack of deposits within the designs, with the original stamp boldly struck and almost entirely intact. Estimate: $4,000 - $5,000.

Estimate:£1,816.18
