Comb box with Leaf Mirror — "Spirit of Nova Scotia"
Canadian. A Nova Scotia hanging comb box with a fanciful form, featuring three scalloped "arms" on each side and two sailboats below the large maple leaf-shaped mirror frame. The comb box has shaped sides and is adorned with two spool holders and a scalloped base. Retains the original gold, silver, and white paint. Illustrated in "Spirit of Nova Scotia: traditional decorative folk art, 1780-1930" by Richard Henning Field, plate 182. Lunenburg County. 1900-1920. Unmarked.
