All auctions / Jewellery & Gems / Delicate Edwardian Pendant-Brooch with Natural Pearls in Gold, British, c. 1905

This pendant made of warm, shimmering gold is shaped like a flower. The surface of the leaves is completely set with natural pearls. The flower motif is elegantly doubled: a central flower with a small diamond in the middle is surrounded by a wreath of larger leaves that are only hinted at as swirls, creating a rich impression that constantly opens up new views through the vistas and the sculptural staggering. The piece of jewellery can be worn in two ways: it can be a pendant and, on other occasions, a brooch. In the latter case, the pendant loop can be easily removed. The pendant brooch was created in Great Britain around 1905. We have included a page from a contemporary catalog showing a similar design. Illustration from the catalog of Saunders & Shepherd Ltd, Holburn Circus, London, 1903/04, illustrated in Peter Hinks (ed.): Viktorianischer Schmuck, Hildesheim/Zurich/New York 1996, p. 119.
