The most famous place of origin for blue sapphires is the island of Ceylon. Ceylon, since 1972 Sri Lanka, is considered the oldest mining area for these precious gems and according to contemporary reports, the sapphires of Ceylon were already set in jewelry by Greeks and Romans in classical antiquity. Even King Solomon is said to have wooed the legendary Queen of Sheba with sapphires from the area around Rathnapura, which means "City of Gems" in Sinhalese. The exquisite entourage ring here presents a natural sapphire from this very island in a wreath of white diamonds. Weighing about 7.71 carats, the Ceylon sapphire shows off the color of a summer sky. Inside it, small transparent crystal inclusions as well as typical growth structures testify to the natural formation of the stone. In most sapphires that are offered in the trade, man has helped a little to make them even more beautiful jewels than nature was able to do. Often sapphires are therefore burned, because the heating intensifies the natural colour of the stones. However, sapphires that naturally possess the coveted colour spectrum are incomparably more precious. The natural sapphire here is therefore a special lucky find: for it is untreated, that is, not altered in quality by man, but formed only by nature. The sapphire and diamonds are held in place by a simple, hand-forged ring band and fine yellow gold prongs. We discovered the ring in Hamburg, Germany. A renowned laboratory in Idar-Oberstein has confirmed that it is an untreated sapphire. The certificate will be delivered together with the ring.
