1901 'Text Underprint' $10 HONG KONG (SAR). Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation. 10 Dollars, 1.1.1901. P-151. KNB39b. PMG Fine 12. Extremely rare 'Text Underprint' $10 dated 1901. This is the second of three dates, 1900, 1901, and 1902, issued for this type, in original, untampered condition with heavy circulation signs, a centre hole, and edge nicks. Brush pen annotations, common for the era, are seen on the reverse. PMG Comments "Ink." This series was a short lived one due to the increasing need for more anti-counterfeiting features, leading to their replacement by the similar looking 'Floral Underprint' series with elaborate lathe work, from 1904.
