Domaine Huet is the most storied estate in Vouvray, founded in 1928 and raised to legend by Gaston Huet, the winemaker-mayor who defended the appellation for more than half a century. Farmed biodynamically since 1990, it draws Chenin Blanc of extraordinary purity and longevity from three great parcels, in styles that run from bone-dry (sec) through off-dry (demi-sec) to lusciously sweet (moelleux). Le Mont, on flinty clay over limestone, is the source of Huet's tautest, most long-lived and mineral wines. This is a sweet moelleux from 2002, now maturing towards a drier, savoury profile. James Lawther MW gave it 16.5 out of 20, and Antonio Galloni from Vinous gave it a rating of 90.
