Remarkable naturalized specimen of Gould’s Sunbird (Aethopyga gouldiae), a tropical passerine of rare elegance, often compared to hummingbirds for the finesse of its silhouette and the intensity of its colors. It is a superb adult male sporting his most spectacular nuptial plumage: Plumage: Chest and cap in dazzling scarlet red, bright luminous yellow belly, olive back and long pointed blue-black tail feathers with violet metallic reflections. Morphology: Fine, delicately curved beak, typical of its nectar-feeding lifestyle. Artistic mounting: Presented perched in a very natural manner at the top of a beautiful driftwood branch sculpted by time, itself fixed on a round black lacquered turned-wood base with a vegetal-moss finish. Details & Characteristics: Common name: Gould’s Sunbird / Mrs. Gould’s Sunbird Scientific name: Aethopyga gouldiae Geographic origin: Asia (Himalayan regions and Southeast Asia) Status: Excellent conservation condition. Neat plumage, vibrant colors and perfect maintenance. Protection status & Legislation: Species not listed in CITES Appendices.
