Jean-Paul Grammare GR (1928-?) - Bouquet à Glaïeuls Rouges

- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Hand-signed. - This vibrant still life by Jean-Paul Grammare encapsulates the delicate aesthetic compromise of the interwar and postwar École de Paris, a negotiating space where the rupturist impulse of the vanguard is tempered by devotion to the classical craft and an infallible eye for seductive bourgeois collecting. The work assimilates the conquests of Fauvism and Post-Impressionism in its expressive, dense use of pigment, as well as in the slight twist of the table’s perspective, yet holds them reverently within a balanced composition and an timeless elegance that recalls the great French still life tradition. The gladioli, upright with a structured sensuality atop artisanal ceramic and a molded frame, turn the audacity of the brushstroke into a purely pleasurable spectacle: a painting of undisputed pictorial solvency designed with the cunning needed to preside over an intellectual salon, ensuring figurative boldness is not destructive but magnetically decorative. - Image dimensions without frame: 59 x 72 cm / 74 x 87 cm with exclusive custom frame.
