Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Large Antique Oushak Carpet, Western Anatolia, circa 1900 Size: 13 ft 5 in x 10 ft (4.09 m x 3.05 m) A handsome room-size Oushak carpet whose large-scale drawing and generous proportions embody the relaxed elegance for which western Anatolian carpets are admired. Unlike the minute precision of urban Persian weaving, Oushak carpets achieve their beauty through broad floral forms, open spacing and the expressive character of hand-drawn ornament. Their softened palettes and monumental patterns have made antique Oushaks enduring favorites among architects and interior designers. This example combines authentic age, substantial scale, and an adaptable decorative presence. Condition Request Condition Report Lot # 409 Oushak Carpet — A handsome and highly decorative Oushak carpet with an open-field composition and no central medallion, displaying the broad, spacious drawing and soft decorative character associated with the type. The carpet is in overall good condition, with the ends and side selvages intact and in good order. Along one side of the border are localized areas of lower pile with minor associated pile loss. Otherwise, the carpet presents well and retains considerable decorative appeal. Please contact our rug experts at auction@nazmiyal.com or call us for any questions you may have at 212.545.8029.
