Larry Young (American, b. 1943) Strolling Woman Modernist Pink Marble Sculpture

This modernist sculpture, titled Strolling Woman by artist Larry Young, features an abstracted female form carved from highly polished pink marble. The piece is a study in mid-century biomorphic abstraction, characterized by an elongated, fluid silhouette, stylized anatomical features, and a sweeping, cowl-like headpiece. The stone surface is finished to a high gloss, revealing natural mineral mottling and inclusions throughout the peach-toned material. The figure is set upon a square, textured travertine plinth, which is supported by a separate, tall hexagonal pedestal. The pedestal is constructed from panels of banded travertine or onyx, displaying horizontal sedimentary layers in shades of beige and cream. Marked on base 2/5 and with partial view of signature. Larry Young Robertson Gallery pamphlet book included, which features Strolling Woman.
