All auctions / Miscellaneous / Legras & Cie. - François-Théodore Legras - Vase - Nancy - mouth-blown glass

Elegant, mouth-blown vase, made circa 1900. Designed by hand by F.T. Legras (1839-1916). Legras is regarded together with Gallé, Daum and Lalique as one of the great masters of glass from that period. Hand-painted enamel decoration with a floral motif, typical of the Art Nouveau period. We can recognize some refined anemones finished with gold decal accents. No cracks or damage. But there is a slight sagging of the glass at the top due to a combination of gravity and too high a temperature. (see photos). This imperfection makes this glasswork indeed unique. Two air bubbles are noticeable on the bottom of the vase. Not visible from the outside. This cobalt blue glassware is also listed in the catalog; “Legras; Verrerie artistique et populaire française” and was given the name "Nancy". This collector's item will be shipped with due care.
