A luxurious sight is offered by this brooch, whose frosty sparkle takes us to the years around 1930. The years between the wars, the Art Deco years, were a wild time. People in Europe and the USA were confronted with numerous drastic innovations: Electric light became fully established, film created its stars and starlets, who were admired across national borders. The automobile took possession of the city and architecture grew sky-high all at once. While on the social and political level the tensions became stronger and stronger and pushed up from the depths, the surface in film, magazines and on the boulevards of the capitals - still - shone in a glittering, seductive way: When at night the movie palaces, the department stores and restaurants were brightly illuminated, the headlights of the cars brought speed and movement into the cities - then man and woman could imagine themselves in a new, better and modern world. The brooch shines in the materials typical of the Art Deco period of luxurious platinum, a precious natural emerald and a multitude of white diamonds. The jewel presents itself as a rectangle, a classic brooch shape of the era. Its openwork center field presents the stunningly beautiful emerald in a classic step cut. The 3.10 ct stone originates from Colombia, as determined by two certificates. Colombia has always been the most sought-after source of fine emeralds. Its colour is intense and the stone inspires with its particularly high purity. It is a so-called "minor oil emerald"; the treatment usual for emeralds is limited to a minimum here. A total of 3.77 ct diamonds accompany the emerald. This results in a shimmering play of light reflections. A special, indeed wonderful piece of wearable jewellery history, perfectly preserved and enlivened as if by an inner fire.
