Masaki Kazushi – Quadrivium 1404 – XL Masaki Kazushi (Osaka, Japan, 1961) Original work on canvas – Japanese contemporary art Quadrivium 1404 – XL is an original abstract work by Masaki Kazushi, a Japanese artist born in Osaka in 1961. The composition is built from a combination of dark color fields, earth tones and blue, interrupted by broad white strokes and highly dynamic lines. The result is a painted surface where structure and spontaneity, depth and gesture confront one another. The work presents a vocabulary close to gestural abstraction and abstract expressionism, with a strong emphasis on materiality, brushwork and the balance between the different areas of the composition. The white strokes act as structural elements that cut across the surface and contrast with the deeper, more atmospheric zones of the painting. The overall effect conveys a sense of movement, tension and balance, leaving room for different interpretations by the viewer. Its vertical format and color palette make it particularly easy to integrate into contemporary interiors. About the artist Masaki Kazushi develops an abstract pictorial language in which gesture, material and composition play a fundamental role. His work combines an expressive approach to painting with a sensitivity tied to Japanese aesthetics, where balance, space and formal simplicity gain special importance. This work constitutes an opportunity to add to a collection a piece of Japanese contemporary art with an abstract character, with a visual presence especially suitable for modern spaces.
