All auctions / Contemporary Art / Maurizio Valch (1972) - (XL) TENSUM · The Gravity of Boundaries

An abstract landscape of dark diagonals and earthy hues unfolds like a silent dialogue between earth and sky. A solitary, dark rectangular form anchors the top ridge, while a smaller, luminous white block rests at the bottom, creating a tense yet quiet polarity. The painting raises a question about distance and connection, suggested by the delicate, incised lines that trace the edges of the shifting terrain, guiding our gaze through a profound state of transition. For me, painting is a way to map the quiet transitions of my inner landscape. This work represents the slow, deliberate journey between shadow and light, where the dark monument above and the glowing marker below serve as coordinates of my own state of mind. I wanted to capture the physical weight of waiting and the fragile clarity that emerges when we allow ourselves to inhabit the spaces in between, finding grounding in the midst of uncertainty. ___ I am interested in how a form can remain isolated and still alter what surrounds it. I do not seek to make these marks describe a path or have their relationships resolve into a recognizable figure. I work with the possibility that a surface can retain traces of passage, boundaries, and presences that never fully reveal themselves. Sometimes, a minimal distance between two elements is enough to change the meaning of the entire territory. **Condition and Shipping** The artwork is in excellent condition, with no damage or restoration. It is shipped unframed and unstretched, carefully rolled inside a protective tube to ensure safe delivery. **About the Artist** Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer, and graphic designer. His work explores metaphysical territories, symbolic landscapes, and the relationship between geological space and human consciousness. Through dark fields, incised surfaces, monolithic forms, and structural divisions, Valch creates paintings that suggest the emergence of perception within the territory itself.
