Native American, North America, Eastern Woodland, ca. 200 to 1000 CE. Four hand-knapped tools made from stones of rich smokey hues. The first three are large and perhaps acted as cutting blades or spear tips. The largest has a butt end that perhaps functioned as a handle or grip for holding in the hand, making this one ideal for cutting, scraping, or digging. The other two are made from chert and have narrow necks that may have been tied to a wooden handle or pole. The smallest is also chert and has a triangular blade with two slightly downward fins and notched edges that taper to a pointed tip; this may have been a projectile point. Size (largest): 7.875" L x 2.75" W (20 cm x 7 cm); (smallest): 1.75" L x .75" W (4.4 cm x 1.9 cm) Item # 157181
