This impressive sphere of petrified wood combines the original structure of ancient tree matter with an exceptionally vibrant color palette. The wood’s typical grain is clearly preserved and runs in dynamic, partly flowing lines across the entire surface—a fascinating glimpse into grown structures that have been mineralized over millions of years. Color-wise, the piece displays an especially intense combination of deep red, warm brown and copper tones as well as dark, almost black patches. In between, bright, partly cream-colored and slightly translucent zones run, adding depth to the overall image. The grain appears in places almost as if brushed on, creating impressive visual movement within the stone. Fine natural lines and fusions traverse the surface, underscoring the authentic character of this material without disturbing the harmonious overall effect. The high-quality polish powerfully enhances the colors and provides a glossy surface that softly reflects light. Through the combination of clearly recognizable wood structure, intense coloration, and the uniform spherical form, it becomes a particularly expressive and rare collectible piece with strong decorative presence. Petrified wood is traditionally associated with durability and grounding—qualities that are subtly reflected in the calm, powerful aura of this extraordinary sphere. Note: The stand shown is not included in the delivery. Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Sphere of Petrified Wood Weight: 2002.11 g Size: 117 mm Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is fossil wood dating back 200 million years; all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were gradually replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and, more rarely, opal. Without the organic parts, all living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseu do-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call petrified wood in common language.
