This lot consists of the following wines: Nicolas Joly Clos de la Bergerie 2012 (2 x 750ml) Nicolas Joly Les Vieux Clos 2012 (1 x 750ml) Nicolas Joly, of the Coulée de Serrant in Savennières, is the father of biodynamic viticulture in France, a near-mystical figure who describes himself as merely ‘nature’s assistant’; his daughter Virginie now leads the winemaking. This lot pairs two of his three Savennières from 2012: Clos de la Bergerie, from the Savennières-Roche-aux-Moines cru, and Les Vieux Clos, the most approachable and aromatic of the three, both dry Chenin Blanc of texture and depth. 2012 was a variable but rewarding Loire vintage.
