Canadian. A striking pastel sketch by Charles de Belle (1873-1939) of two young girls braving the winter cold; note one of the girls has her hands in a fur muffler. Retained in a period frame with the original label intact, "W. Scott & Sons Montreal", showing this work by Chas De Bel (Charles de Belle) was priced at $35 in 1922. Further presented at Stevens Art Gallery in Montreal. Charles de Belle was a Hungarian artist who came to Canada in 1912 with his wife and children and became known for his portraits, landscapes, and paintings of children. Initialled, "CB", lower right. Labelled, with gallery labels, verso.
