All auctions / Porcelain & Pottery / Phyllis Cosman Pioneer with Butter Churn
Avonport, Nova Scotia. C. 2000. While Cosman’s carvings frequently depict close interpersonal relationships, such as her highly sought-after "Mother and Child" groupings or individuals carrying out common modern-day occupations, this carving stands apart as being more nostalgic. She captures a maternal archetype ready for butter churning. A beautiful tribute to the pioneer domestic life of the Canadian Maritimes. Signed, "P. Cosman", bottom of base.
