PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Arsinoe II Philadelphos, Died 270/68 B.C. AV Oktadrachm (Mnaieion) (27.87 gms), Alexandreia Mint, struck under Ptolemy VI-VIII, ca. 180-116 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 2/5. Edge Smoothing, Brushed. Svor-1499; SNG Cop-322. Obverse: Veiled head right, wearing stephanos and ram's horn; lotus-tipped scepter in background, K to left; Reverse: Filleted double cornucopia, with grape bunches hanging at sides. Some hairlines and peck marks, but the bold strike remains otherwise resolute and highly appealing. An impressive example of this coveted large gold issue. Estimate: $8,000 - $12,000.
