Letter signed “D. DABEDEILHE LINARD,” shipowner, addressed to Mr. Germain LAFAUSSE & Co., Merchants in LYON (69). 1p ¼ quarto - “We were honored… to receive the price list for the goods from your factory; it is true that the nature of your business is particularly geared toward shipping vessels to the French colonies, but such voyages are now so rare due to the threat of enemies near our ports, and due to so many other circumstances that absorb all the profits from such ventures, that all shipowners are disheartened and no longer dare to take any risks in this regard. However, we are taking careful note of your generous offers for a more opportune time… We plan to dispatch a schooner to Guadeloupe sometime in September… ” + BAYONNE 1803, Business letter to Messrs.
