French translation by Jean Raoul Mengarduque. A remarkable collection devoted to Rembrandt’s self-portraits, examined through paintings, drawings, and etchings. The book compares the various techniques used by the artist and analyzes the evolution of his image from his youth through his final years. Extensive color and black-and-white illustrations, numerous full-page reproductions, and detailed entries. A good copy, with some slight wear and scuffing on the dust jacket.
