In-8, red morocco leather, triple gilt fillet, coat of arms in the center, decorated spine, inner roulette, lining and endpapers of marbled paper with red floral scroll motifs, gilt edges on marbled paper (contemporary binding). Work containing 28 discourses on the Christian religion (the vow of chastity, the fears of sinners on their deathbeds, hell, paradise, the reading of devotional books, etc.). A copy with a dedication bearing the coat of arms of Cardinal Melchior de Polignac (1661–1741). Printed bookplate from the library of the Capuchins of Toulouse. Worm damage affecting some quires; significant in the first 7 quires, and much less pronounced in quires Nn, Oo, and Pp. Spine dry and slightly faded, minor rubbing, two rounded corners.
