Bronze sculpture of the petite danseuse after E. Degas. "Degas dancer" refers to the many paintings and sculptures of ballet dancers created by the French artist Edgar Degas. The most famous sculpture is probably the «Petite Danseuse de Quatorze Ans» (Fourteen-year-old Dancer), a wax sculpture of the Belgian Marie van Goethem from 1880 that is renowned for its realism. The sculpture sits on a marble base and bears the signature "Degas" and the foundry mark. Fine detailing, a beautiful face and a lovely brown tone (patina). Height 20 cm. Base 9 cm x 7 cm.
