Scuola centroitaliana (XVIII-X) - Madonna con Bambino

• Era: Although the compositional invention dates to the early sixteenth century (Raphael), the painting in the photo shows executional, physiognomic and chromatic characteristics (such as the striped sky at sunset and the rendering of the faces) that are consistent with the eighteenth century or with a later classicist production. • School: It is a work of Italian school (probably from Central or Northern Italy). In the 18th century it was a widespread practice for painters of academies and studios to study the great Renaissance masters, reproducing their masterpieces for the decoration of noble palaces or for private collecting. State of conservation: Good/Stabile. The painting has been restored recently with the application of a lining canvas to the back (relining) and mounted on a modern keyed frame to preserve its tension. The carved and lacquered cassetta frame, presumably contemporaneous or later.
