Side table - Wood, Brass - Fine Luxury Marquetry

They are two luxurious 19th-century side tables, crafted with fine marquetry that betrays a skilled workshop and a taste fully aligned with the Louis XVI style, that moment when French elegance becomes more geometric, more sober, and more intellectual without losing its courtly refinement. The overall structure is light, balanced, with those high, gently curved legs that slim the silhouette and elevate the furniture visually. The metal sabot feet and the small circular handles provide the right touch of shine, like discreet jewelry that highlights quality without imposing itself. The true protagonism is in the marquetry: surfaces decorated with precise geometries, inlays, diamonds, straight lines and symmetric compositions that evoke neoclassical taste. On the fronts appear circular medallions, a very characteristic motif of Louis XVI, introducing a smooth, aristocratic visual rhythm. The combination of light and dark woods creates depth, relief, and a play of light that changes with perspective. The interior of the drawers is lined with gold textile, a luxury detail not visible at first glance but revealing the furniture’s intention: not only to be beautiful on the outside, but also on the inside. That warm gold, typical of the era, adds a ceremonial, almost intimate nuance, as if each drawer stored precious objects. Overall, these nightstands embody the essential traits of Louis XVI: • Symmetry and order as aesthetic principles. • Geometric marquetry of the highest precision. • Neoclassical motifs such as medallions and inlays. • Stylized legs that convey lightness. • Carefully finished interiors that speak of true luxury. They are pieces that today function as nightstands, as auxiliary furniture in a living room or an office, and that bring that air of French refinement that never goes out of style.
