Sitzender Buddha aus Hartholz mit bemalter Holztafel – 20

For sale is a decorative ensemble of two wooden works from Sri Lanka, consisting of a hand-carved Buddha figure and a painted wooden panel. The Buddha figure shows Buddha in a seated meditation pose with hands in Dhyana Mudra. The face with closed eyes, long earlobes, the finely structured hair, and the numerous incised folds of the robe are carefully worked. The figure was carved from light hardwood and subsequently stained dark or black. Through abrasion and age-related signs of wear, the natural light brown color of the wood appears at various spots. This gives the sculpture a vivid, naturally grown patina. Included is a narrow, hand-painted wooden panel depicting a seated Buddha. The panel shows a colored Buddha representation in red, gold, and black tones. Here too there are age-related signs of wear and fine crack or drying lines visible, which belong to the piece’s appearance. Dimensions Buddha: height approx. 28 cm, width 17 cm, weight 1.4 kg, hardwood Dimensions wooden panel: height approx. 40 cm, width 15 cm, material: wood, painted - Origin: Sri Lanka - Dating: 20th century - Material: wood - Execution: carved, stained or painted Both objects are overall in very good condition for their age.
