20th century, glass beads and hideskin (likely goat), rectangular apron with five finger-like flaps on the bottom, featuring ceremonial polychrome geometric beaded designs against a white ground, float mounted within a within an acrylic box frame. 37 x 23 1/2 x 2 1/4 in. From the Estate of the late Francine Pilloff, Chapel Hill, North Carolina A bride receives her first jocolo from her future husband. She wears it unbeaded for several months of marriage, after which her mother-in-law generally beads her a richly decorated one. Some surface wear to the leather and small areas of bead loss; good estate condition.; not examine out of the frame
