Sparkling "Trilogy" Ring with Vintage Diamonds in Platinum, from Our Workshop

“Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the passing on of the flame.” The famous symphonist Gustav Mahler (1860–1911) already knew this. This quote applies particularly well to this modern ring, as its romantic symbolism follows a centuries-old tradition. The ring was created on our commission and is a beautiful example of the enduring legacy of a classic design that, at the same time, does not deny the era in which it was created. The understated, modern platinum ring band features three sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds with a total weight of 0.67 carats, with a larger center stone weighing 0.32 ct flanked by two smaller brilliant-cut diamonds. All the stones shine with a wonderful exceptional white to rare white color (E–G) and exhibit only very, very small to small inclusions (VVS–VS). What makes this ring special is that all three diamonds are vintage diamonds. They came to us as part of pieces of jewellery from the 1960s and 1970s that, unfortunately, could no longer be repaired. The diamonds, however, were perfectly preserved and of very good quality, so we decided to set them in this ring, newly crafted by our goldsmiths. The design concept for the ring draws on the tradition of trilogy rings, which are rich in symbolism: the number of gemstones in these pieces is meant to represent the shared past, the present, and the shared future. The diamonds—which, according to legend, are indestructible and thus eternally enduring gemstones—symbolize a promise of eternity. Thanks to its shape and its symbolic meaning, our ring can therefore be the perfect engagement ring or a gift of love. An independent appraisal from Vienna is included with the ring.
