The ethos of Slim Aarons, the photographer who captured "Attractive People Doing Attractive Things in Attractive Places", is perhaps best caught his iconic photo Poolside Gossip (1970). Now, the modernist residence in the background of the image is on the market.

The house is located in the Californian desert town of Palm Springs, which mutated into a recreational oasis for Hollywood stars in the 1960s and is now a haven for well-heeled seniors.

The house was designed in 1946 by the Austrian architect Richard Neutra, who worked mainly in the United States. He moved there in 1923 as he was particularly interested in Frank Lloyd Wright's modern architecture.

Neutra designed the property, which was known as the Kaufmann Desert House, for the entrepreneur Edgar J. Kaufmann, who had recently had Wright build the famed Fallingwater country estate in his native Pennsylvania.

The iconic house, which underlines Neutra's outstanding position among modern architects, has five bedrooms and six bathrooms, which are spread over almost 3,200 square feet, together with the kitchen, dining area and living room.

Open fireplaces, a tennis court, panoramas of the surrounding mountains, and of course the famous pool, which is great for gossiping around, make the two-acre property an spectacular vacation home with a wealth of history. The architectural gem also recently underwent an award-winning, multi-year renovation to restore it to its original glory.

The Kaufmann Desert House has been offered by real estate agent Gerard Bisignano at Sotheby's International Realty since mid-October with the price of $25 million.
